Tremendous growth of GVSU’s nursing and health professions programs called for an expansion of the existing Cook DeVos Center for Health Sciences building located in the “Medical Mile” of downtown Grand Rapids. FTCH was selected as the design consultant to assist GVSU in planning a new facility to support the program expansion of the College of Health Professions and the Kirkhof College of Nursing. The project features 15 teaching labs, four classrooms, computer lab, departmental suites, and faculty offices.
This is an important project in the City of Grand Rapids, as GVSU is the first major institution located on the Michigan Street Corridor to expand north of I-196. FTCH led a team of professionals in creating a design that supports GVSU’s vision and contributes to the improvement of the community environment. There is a 240-space, 2-level parking ramp that is visually appealing while blending into the neighborhood.
